FAQ: General
How can I contribute funds to the project?
The PressCorps is dedicated to avoiding any form of payment for PressCorps projects. This includes PayPal, Twitch Bits, Twitch Subscriptions, and YouTube monetization.
We do this because:
Accepting any form of payment would require a time commitment that we cannot provide.
Questions would arise of who gets how much money for what time and labor, and these inevitable disputes would dissolve the community aspect.
Like Siege Camp's beliefs, money should not drive content.
All PressCorps staff know upon joining they are an unpaid volunteer. However, credit is still given, and all staff are free to use anything they make for personal use (porfolios, resumes, etc).
What shard are you focused on?
The PressCorps is primarily focused on Able shard ("Shard 1"). Due to the enormous size and complexities of every war, the Corps chose to focus on a single shard so as not to be stretched thin.
However, we believe anyone’s experience in any shard is a valid experience that is not inherently better or worse than another. A tank kill, a bayonet charge, a logistics delivery, an ambush, a funny moment, a victory, and a defeat are all the same no matter what shard or war. Our lack of coverage of other shards does not come from a place of superiority, but of necessity.
Have you received any developer support?
Yes! First and foremost, Siege Camp funded the PressCorps' 24/7 radio with an $1,800 sponsorship. You can find all information, including how that money was spent, through this video.
The PressCorps was also provided an exclusive in-game uniform. More information can be found in another FAQ.
Additionally, Foxhole developers have appeared on a majority of episodes on the community call-in show Zero Dark PressCorps.
How do I get an interview with a reporter?
On our Discord, ping the @PressCorps Reporter role to get in contact with a reporter. Due to our volunteer status, response is not guaranteed. However, feel free to keep asking if not given a response.
Additionally, you can share your story in the #submissions text channel. Make sure to read the #newswire-instructions text channel first!
When do you go live on the radio, report live on the field, post stories, etc?
Because we are a volunteer, casual group, we are rarely able to commit to on-air time and other content. Some wars we’ll be on seemingly all the time. Other wars, we’re almost dead silent. We hate our inconsistency too.
Your best bet to staying in the loop is to join the Discord channel and stay tuned to the broadcast.
How long has the group been around?
The PressCorps was officially established in January of 2018 by Geoffrey Jennings (AKA CaptainInArms), originally as a solo project before community members volunteered and got involved. The idea was lifted from his previous pretend war journalist project Radio Free Auraxis from the MMO war sandbox game Planetside 2.
