COLONIAL OFFENSIVE IN MORGENS CROSSING

Morgen's Crossing Frontline during Colonial offensive action

WAR 108, DAY 284, Morgen’s Crossing, Callum's Descent --- While the Wardens on the western front are riding high, Colonial Forces are destroying Warden defences in the East. Around 0200 on Day 284, the Legion of [CGC] launched a massive attack on the town of Quietus, led by Major General 1.7sama. Pushing from Callum Descent, their objective was to cut logistics lines through the town.

The region was heavily fortified by Warden’s though, static defences east and west of The Bastard Sea Peninsula forestalling any attempts at deploying mechanized troops. Yet the Asian legionnaires of [CGC] surprised Caoivish soldiers by smashing through the southside of the bridge. Exploiting the breakthrough, Colonials rapidly deployed four H-5 “Hatchet” light tanks. Using these they immediately set about breaching the defensive works protecting Quietus.

Colonial Tanks awaiting daybreak

Shaking off their initial shock, the Caovish troops quickly established a defence line. Two [WN] Gunboats managed to destroy The Bastard Sea's bridge, cutting off Colonial logistics. Mesean Legionnaires found themselves cornered: the town of Quietus to the north, and the sea to their backs. Warden field artillery would join the fray and begin raining down shells onto the encircled forces. By the early morning the next day, Quietus still stood, defiant.

Yet the Meseans were not discouraged by the failure of the assaults. 彬纸-millet plus rifles, an officer of [CGC], commented:” If we can get a destroyer to cover the bridge and provide arty support, we might have a chance to crush them once for all.” I asked Commander 1.7sama his views on the bloody fight that raged all night. His response is as follows:

"Our boys have done their best, we destroyed half of their fortification and the factory of the [27th] legion. Our opponents are also doing a great job and deserve our respect. But they can’t stop us, Morgen’s Crossing must be, and will be ours."

Colonial's morale was still high. A legionnaire named 煎包 said to me: “I’m gonna cut off the heads of those dirty Caovish and hang them in my living room as trophies and grease my gun with their fat when we take over Morgen’s Crossing.”

As I write these lines, the town of Quietus and most of Morgen's Crossing remains in Warden hands. Wet concrete fortifications might entice the Colonials to strike again, but for now Caovish forces are on high alert. The situation in the region remains uncertain.
