"DO YOU FEEL FOR KEELHAUL'S SAFETY? CAUSE YOU SHOULD!"

Reporter Jean Baricave interviewing Colonial soldier brain_fog

War 113, DAY 139, THE FINGERS, Headman's Villa --- From the outset of hostilities, The Fingers has clearly announced itself as one of the key regions in this conflict. A region mostly comprised of islands, with no road connections for logistics. Yet important as it offered a route towards the Reaver's Pass and Keelhaul’s vital Mass Production Factory.

As such it was unsurprising that it became the site of a major Caovish offensive. Choosing the Relic Base of Fort Barley as their focal point Warden troops would engage in an amphibious assault. Supported by gunboats they successfully secured a landing, being able to disembark armoured formations. From here Colonial forces would find themselves pushed back through Mount Talio’s pass. For many the suddenness of this Warden blitz came as shock. Colonial Lieutenant Colonel [AUX] brain_fog would comment: "Two days ago, we had three subregions. We were pushing Second Man and we had a beachhead across Cavitatis's river. I went to bed with no worries." He lets out a long sigh "...12 hours later Only Plankhouse and Headsman's Villa remained under our control."

Brain_fog would return to the static fray of fighting within the mountain pass, where it was whispered in the trenches that the invaders already had a Tier 2 Bunker Base. "We rested on our laurels", he tells me, "Plus we had difficulties getting troops replacement". Ultimately though the Colonial line would collapse, all eyes turning westward to the salient offered by Billhook Reach into Reaver’s Pass. Watching on, a Warden soldier who was passing by called out to me and yelled, a smirk on his lips: "Do you feel for Keelhauls safety? Cause you should!". Laughter ensued among the [CL] troopers standing nearby.

I mentioned this during my chat with brain_fog and ask him if he had anything to say. He pondered in silence for a while before answering my question: "We knew the Fingers was going to be a tough nut, a logistical nightmare. And as a common soldier, I'm a bit concerned about Keelhaul's defences. But we don't need the favour of the gods. Whoever told you that, they might be a bit too cocky. This a personal promise: I will push them out. They will not take a single sector of this region."

Whether or not brain_fog’s statement is to be true is yet to be seen though. As of Day 288, Warden troops had yet to penetrate in force into Reaver's Pass.
