THE HOSPITAL? DON'T KNOW, DON'T CARE.

Warden Huber Exalt 150mm firing from an emplaced position at Colonial forces

War 155, Day 254, Abandoned Ward, DEADLANDS --- Sunhaven. The Caovish nation's lost capital. Many soldiers, Wardens and Colonials alike, have dreamed of capturing this illustrious city. Few ever managed to. The Warden army marches forward, intent on seizing back their historical town. They can count on their manpower as well as armored support from a Devitt Mk. III Light Tank. But upon reaching its outskirts, they are met with stiff resistance from Mesean Republic. Colonials troops are using the destroyed houses as cover to shield them from incoming small arms fire. Out of sight, a HH-d “Peltast” Hafl-Track Mortar is providing indirect fire support and raining shells onto the incoming attackers. However, Warden logistics caught up with the advance. The mortar crew quickly found itself badly outgunned by three fully manned 120mm Huber Lariat cannons.

Some time after the artillery barrage first started, soldiers as well as some civilians began to notice shells tended to land onto Abandoned Ward Hospital more often that not. By essence, the larger the gun, the less precise it becomes. Artillery can usually strike a somewhat small area without much difficulty, but reliably hitting a specific target can prove finicky. I myself observed this from a distance for a bit and have to admit this rumor required some investigations. Upon reaching the firebase, I asked the gunners what targets they were shooting. Answers varied from "At the Safehouse" to "Don't know. Don't care." When I pointed out a certain number of shells fell onto the general Hospital, their expressions hardened and they visibly took umbrage at my suspicions. I was then promptly escorted out by a Military Policeman.

After the Collapse of the Abandoned Ward Hospital by Warden 120mm guns, Colonials proceeded to counterattack north towards Iron's End, creating a sizable salient into Warden's lines. Not to be outdone, a Caovish armoured detachement composed of Scout Tanks, Light Tanks and Half-Track set out to push Callahan's Boot. They were less successful in their endeavor. Partly because of the presence of numerous anti tank weapons set up by their enemies in green.

Once out on frontline again, I made it my mission to get one last interview before leaving. Colonel Ace_lufwaffe from [COWS] accepted to answer my questions, sitting among the rubles of a civilian house. I asked him his opinion on the artillery falling onto Abandonned Ward Hospital. He corrected me, stating it was destroyed by a Balfour Falconer 250mm. "Either way," the Colonel continued, "It was a heroic act by the Warden Army. Although it was treating civilians, it was also harboring colonial soldiers. It needed to be taken out."

A colonial interview was not available due to the active frontline blocking the Press from going over there.
