THE LAST STAND OF THE COLONIAL STLICAN DIVISION

Defensive perimeters used by Colonial forces to defend their position.

War 117, DAY 627, STLICAN SHELF, The South Wind --- A lone siren blared across the barren wastes of the North.

A large Warden army, artillery and tanks in tow, marches onward.

All that remained between Saltbrook Channel and this inexorably advancing cohort was a single border base, staffed with ill-equipped privates and corporals.

The few NCO's still present began ordering the construction of defenses, no matter what kind. A handful of reinforced positions and pillboxes had been quickly thrown together. Most can only count on trenches or individuals foxholes. Grenades and RPG's scavenged from the surrounding area had been distributed to the most skilled soldiers.

Riflemen opened fire with Argenti's and stolen submachine guns, piercing through the night. Warden infantry attempted to clear the way for their armour, and each time they were cut down, like the Colonials in the Battles of Iron Junction in War 115.

Blood stained the snow and dirt. For each bullet expanded, another two wardens appeared. Hope started to drain from the defenders. But all of a sudden, a growing rumble was heard coming from behind. Looking over their shoulders, they saw 85K-a “Spatha” tanks and heavy-trucks towing field canons in the distance. Reinforcements from the [UA] and [PARA] regiments arrived in the nick of time. The defenders, now resupplied and rearmed, both in materials and spirit, began pushing forward.

And then, disaster struck. Colonial tanks fell into a hidden trench. Surrounded on both sides, the [PARA] crews fired their last shells, as infantry desperately attempted to delay their demise with hails of grenades. With the hopes of retaking the Relic dashed, Mesean soldiers switched back to the defensive.

Yet again, all hope seemed lost. This was until a last [UCF] logistics truck managed to deliver Bane 45 Anti Tank RPGs, avoiding bullets and tank shells. The infantry enthusiastically took up arms, and began holding the line, surrounded by the corpses of their brothers and the smell of gas. Upon the next day, the fight had stalemated, with trench lines formed and pillboxes repaired. The border was declared secure, and the defenders were relieved.
