A PORT TOO FAR

WAR 118, DAY 107, The Quietus, MORGEN'S CROSSING --- Radios were blaring across Morgen's Crossing. Intelligence revealed a Colonial landing near the coastal town of Quietus.

The region which was primarily used for logistics and particularly hosted a high number of Ammunition Factories. Moreover, it was under prepared for such an attack. It was deemed impossible to land such far inland. It was believed that the Warden navy would stop it dead in it tracks way before it came anywhere close.

A 85K-a “Spatha” supporting Colonial infantry

But Mesean forces proved them wrong. At least two squads of colonial infantry supportedby two armored had landed at the port. Initial reports were vague, as the region lacked patrols and watchtowers to alert troops in such a case. [DOD] Sgt. Countvondabar was sent to gather more informations about the enemy force's composition. On his way, the Sergeant met a armoured car crew from the [SSe] regiment. Upon inquiring, he discovered that they had no ammunition. As Contvondabar was approaching Quietus's vicinity, he was ambushed by multiple enemy personnel. Thanks to his Drummond 100a high speed, he managed to escape the ambush. It was confirmed that two colonial tankettes were present with the raiding party.

The Warden response was chaotic. Mammons from multiple bases were collected and distributed to counter the enemy armoured support. A 120 mm artillery piece of the [DOD] regiment was also manned but couldn't effectively engage the enemy as they were out of range. Troops from various squads attacked the raiding party and were able to take out one of the enemy tankettes with the mammons. Fighting a tactical withdrawal, the remaining colonial infantry and tankette managed to retreat using their barges.

In the end, the raid cause minimal damages: several oil tanks and vehicles stationed at the port destroyed, as well as some defenses. It was later discovered that these troops were not supported by any naval vessel.
