Day 387: Mountaineers of Allod's Bight!

By [PRESS] Lloyd B Davis

Day 387-388, War 119

Allod's Bight

On Day 387, Hagaki and I went down to the local garage to begin the construction of the Legion's new 90T-v "Nemesis," an assault tank designed to spearhead, flank, and advance. The schematics show a simple construction, with the engine's cooling systems and gearbox being the hardest to construct.

By the afternoon, our steel chariots had been completed. Two Nemesis tanks, each one requiring a four-person crew each, with a minimum of two crew. We raced to the front, going 60-70 km/h. We breezed past the Mesean region of Shackled Chasm, and took all the roads to Turncoat. After reaching Turncoat, we stocked up on ammo and fuel. We raced towards Mercy's Wail and recruited a fine crew of gun men, that would punch a heavy wound, and mental scar to all enemy tanks fighting on the bridge.

Colonial Nemeisis assault tanks traverse the rocky cliffs.

The night began to fall, and the scraping of metal chains, and rubbery tires against the rock was ever present. I looked out of the cramped turret and shifted my gaze to the right of the tank. A steep fall down. The rocks were causing the tank to elevate and depress violently and frequently. Passing a calming waterfall, we reached a neat and tidy plateau atop the winding rocks below. From there, our stand would be made. Shell after shell soared from atop the cliffs, colliding with a violent fury that not even artillery could match. The tanks retreated, and the infantry advance, AT weapons in hand. Now, our vigilance would be tested. Now, our perseverance would show amongst the horrified faces of our combatants.

On the night of Day 389, I would learn that "battle sausage." The tank I had crewed had been ambushed trying to flank an enemy tank line at Homesick, Allod's Bight. I still remain in the region of Shackled Chasm, hell right after this article, I will be writing about the impact artillery had on Warden BBs.
