Day 654-681: The State Of Colonial Train Infrastructure
By [PRESS] Diana Keys
Day 654-681, War 119
Colonial Backline Regions
Colonial Legion railways are breaking. The railway all over Colonial territory is either decaying or being destroyed by partisans.
Several people have reported being unable to use their trains due to a lack of proper infrastructure, and frontline logi is feeling it. Westgate and Origin have experienced several small rail line decays, and fighting in the northern end of Westgate has all but chopped up most of the railway. Despite this, Kingstone holds strong against the Warden advance In King's Cage and east Loch Mor rail lines have been totally destroyed by the heavy fighting. An eyewitness can barely tell that a rail network ever existed there to begin with.
The Deadlands has had problems with partisan work for days, leading to a lack of proper supply and regiments being unable to evacuate vital resources. The Abandoned Ward, once the capital of the Warden Empire, fell under artillery fire and was unable to keep up with the basic materials cost. This has led to the city being taken by the Warden faction. At least, for now.
With pressure now put on Hermits Rest increasing, regional coalfields have been unable to maintain the sudden demand in fuel and trains from the backline can’t refuel the town’s new demand for tank fuel. Hermit's Rest as well as the northern end of the Great March has been one of the most prolific rail lines to decay. The entirety of the rail line into hermits has ethier decayed or been destroyed by partisans. A reconstruction project was attempted but it quickly faded in the looming presence of partisan activity. In Shackled Chasm, the rails have mostly held firm. However, under the pressure of 120mm fire, the rail into and out of Silk Farms has mostly collapsed with bits and pieces from the southern entrance still functional. Only time will tell if they are repaired or not.
Meanwhile, in Terminus and the west of Reaver’s, passing shelling from large ships has done a great deal of damage to rail along the coast. Inland rail remains intact, providing crucial supplies to the Legion stronghold in eastern Reaver’s. This is mostly doom and gloom, but not all of the Colonial train infrastructure is dying. While most regions suffer losses, Ash Feilds, Red River, and Kaloki it’s business as usual. Some of the region's train conductors have no complaints, with tracks leading in every direction you could go with a few notable exceptions. A rail line leading from the southern end of Victoria Hill to Climb has seemingly decayed. While all but one railway from Kaloki to the Great March is left.
With the current state of Colonial rail logistics, it may prove difficult for the Colonial Legion to hold back the advance of the Wardens
