A COMBAT CAR COMMANDER'S
CHILLING CIRCUMSTANCES
Community Submission.
DAY UNSPECIFIED, ABOUT 200, The Deadlands --- Transcript of a report by Cpl. Andrew 'Adjacent' Gunderson, 11th Infantry Brigade, Warden Army.
"Combat cars. Coffins of riveted iron plates. Good in a pinch, but not this late into the war. My hope arose when I heard that we were finally getting the armored support we needed down in Iron's End...only for it to sink once more after seeing the headlights of six light combat cars pull up. I thought we wardens were BETTER than this!"
"Five of the six all charged head-long into instant death and paid the price. It seemed that I was the only one with common sense, as when I took command of the last one, I kept it alive for hours."
(GUNDERSON pauses for breath.) "But we really need to talk about those interiors! Spent casings spilling down the turret into the compartment. No basket so I had to turn with the turret as it moved! There were no vents. No way to see out aside from the optics on the friggen turret. But worst of all, whenever you got hit in one, the rivets would bounce around like angry bees for minutes on end! Armored combat cars are useless. They're a nightmare to serve in and should only be used as a VERY last resort!"
