COLONIALS THREATEN TO CUT OFF DEADLANDS

Colonials leave Wardens with only one way out of Iron's End, Deadlands.

DAY 66, 2300 HOURS. IRON'S END, Deadlands --- As the war reaches its second month, the Colonials push on Deadlands, capturing The Spine on Day 61. Currently the Wardens are holding on to Iron's End, but only barely- soldier supplies arrive at the nick of time. Colonial partisans are hitting the western border to Callahan's Passage; the only secure road of resupply through the northeast at the town of Callahan's Gate.

DAY 67, 0200 HOURS. The fighting does not let up, even for a moment. Small-arms fire and explosions are heard barely a hundred yards around the town base in the flare-lit night. The fighting is so savage that this reporter cannot manage to stay still and interview soldiers on the front, lest Colonial artillery zero in.

1230 HOURS. This reporter has tried no less than eight times to get in contact with Colonials near Iron's End to no avail- they cannot communicate by voice anymore much to his chagrin. The town as of the moment stands, the line waxing and waning at the glacial pace of a few yards per hour. Perhaps it is with rose-tinted glasses that this reporter says that conflict used to be more gentlemanly, years before.  Many things have changed- warfare had always been mechanized but not to this extent. New rails and factories and cranes and ores and alloys and differently-named weapons this old reporter has never heard of dot the landscape. Press HQ never took me on a refresher course, the bastards- a stream of fire nearly singed all my hair off!
