CONFLICT RESUMES!
Advances made from the (re)start of war up to Day 16.
WAR 97, DAY 1-16 --- Peace seemingly as numerous times before is fleeting for this land. Entering the 97th instance of conflict in Caovia many lessons had been learnt by the Colonial and Warden militaries. The advancement, redevelopment and lifting of restrictions in the previous conflict was the chief reason for this. As with it had risen a old guard versus young officer conflict within the militaries of both sides. The question of whether this will persist into the next conflict is yet to be seen as many new recruits are seen on the front and new styles of warfare emerge.
The early days of the 97th are best characterised by reporter Edward Bloke as "fluidity in the fronts". To the North Colonial troops would garner significant success, capturing the neutral point of Headstone within the Moors within the first few hours of conflict. From here over Days 3-6 Colonial troops would seize all but the strategic city of Ogmaran in the region. Yet by late Day 14 the city would be overrun forcing a Warden retreat West across the river. Mirroring these victories, to the South starting on Day 4 Colonial troops would rapidly encircle Ulster Falls and The Long Whine creating the 'Linn Pocket' (https://www.presscorpsgaming.com/newskiosk/The-PressCorps-Bulletin/war-97/day-9-10-the-linn-pocket). By Day 11 this pocket would be crushed, allowing Colonial troops to redirect their efforts towards beginning an assault into Callahans Passage, capturing Crumbling Post on Day 15. A concern now rises for Callums Keep in the far North with Colonial troops engaging their Warden counterparts in fierce urban combat over the vital city.Â
In the centre of the region the strongpoint of Abandoned Ward, an location of sentimental value to the Wardens was swiftly seized by Measan contingents. After a few hours of harsh combat within the tightly packed streets the green banner was raised over the townhall and Caoivish troops were forced back. The Wardens weren't on the backfoot everywhere though as in Drowned Vale significant successes were seen. Throughout the the first few Days Wardens would seize Eastmarch, The Wash, Splinter Pens, Vessel and eventually clear the pocket of resistance in The Baths by Day 4. Although Colonial troops would resieze the Vessel on Day 8 their abilities in the region would remain significantly blunted.
Shackled Chasm to the South would likewise present Warden Success as following a capture of the neutral Limewood Holdfast Relic Base troops would seize Gorgons River and Simo's Run. Simo's Run would change hands a few times but as of Day 16 is held by Caovish troops. Overall the conflict is showing a consolidation by both factions as they attempt to push out their enemies from regions and secure access to resources and production. Currently the Colonials seem to be continuously pushing in the North while the Wardens have secured a strong defensive position in the South. It is yet to be seen whether this gains can be held though. Nevertheless it is undeniable that both nations will intensify the conflict, once again constructing fortifications and reinforcing their troops with more heavy equipment.
