CLASHES AT WHITE CHAPEL
A Warden half-track deployed to the South of White Chapel alongside hastily built defensive postions
WAR 97, DAY 179, WHITE CHAPEL, Callahan's Passage --- Seemingly against the odds, the Wardens have made an unexpected comeback in the 97th Conflict of the Foxhole Wars. After more than two months of total Colonial control, the central regions of Umbral Wildwood and Callahan's Passage are once again contested. South of the town of White Chapel, the two armies trade costly blows, the frontline being a mismatch of hastily erected pillboxes vying for the damaged remains of a once great production facility. This flashpoint acts as the buffer for White Chapel itself, for the Colonials controlling it will allow them to lay siege to the only recently acquired township, while for the Wardens holding it is required to fortify their hard fought gains.
Upon my arrival to the front the situation was in the Warden's favor, though turning in the Colonials' favor as they reinforced their forces with a machine gun mounted half-track. Over the next few days this resulted in continuous losses and gains for both sides- day favoring the Colonials, night the Wardens' reprieve. In response the Wardens would field a stolen 120mm Koronides Field Gun, which might discourage any organized Colonial assault by sporadically firing into frontline positions. Nevertheless, Colonial interviewee 黑骑士首领 stated high hopes in the Colonials ability to re-seize White Chapel, believing that a breakthrough for Colonial forces would be easily achievable in the coming month, after 'Warden Weekend'.
Interview with a Colonial Soldier near the frontline
Around Day 182, Colonials guns opened up a counter-barrage. Starting with a single sporadic gun which alongside a organized Colonial push consisting of a half-track and a section of infantry would seize a disputed trench. Although effective, the Colonials were soon met with a fierce response. Deploying a Kingspire Scout Tank and their own half-track supported by infantry the Wardens rapidly counterattacked. The result was the loss of the Colonial's half-track and a Colonial UV-05 light utility vehicle believed to be relaying orders to the troops.
The pendulum quickly swung back to the Colonials' favor as an estimated 2-3 Colonial guns would opened up, showering the position in shrapnel. Falling back, I found myself short of breath only to look down and find my hand stained with red. As this ambulance I'm writing this on rides east, I can still see the plumes of smoke and dirt reaching into the sky. Speaking with Warden troops beside me they still hold immense confidence in the situation here. For them the namesake of this region is enough to tell that this fight is far from over.
